What is Therapeutic Coaching?

Therapeutic coaching is an integrated approach that combines evidence-based therapy with practical, forward-focused coaching to support your mental wellbeing, personal growth and performance.

While traditional therapy often focuses on understanding and processing past experiences, coaching typically concentrates on where you want to go and how to get there. Therapeutic coaching bridges the gap between the two, recognising that understanding what’s holding you back and developing the skills to move forward often go hand in hand.

At Inspire You, we bring these approaches together in a personalised way, drawing on additional tools such as neurofeedback, biofeedbackand heart rate variability (HRV) monitoring where appropriate. This helps us explore not just your thoughts and behaviours, but also how your brain and body respond to stress and everyday challenges.

Rather than fitting you into a standard programme, we adapt our approach to your individual needs, helping you understand your past, navigate your present and build a better future.

Therapy

Explore underlying challenges, process difficult experiences and understand unhelpful patterns using approaches including EMDR, CBT, Solution Focused Brief Therapy and Behavioural Activation.

Coaching

Turn understanding into meaningful action through goal setting, reflection, reframing, visualisation and practical strategies that support confidence, healthier habits and personal growth.

Supporting Tools

Where appropriate, neurofeedback, biofeedback and HRV monitoring provide additional insights into brain activity and physiological stress responses, helping inform personalised strategies for self-regulation and wellbeing.

“One thing I didn’t count on was the more personal management of my personal relationships, and how to deal with the trauma and triggers that come with life long coping mechanisms and loops I have not been able to overcome. Frequently Asked Questions

What is therapeutic coaching?

Therapeutic coaching combines evidence-based therapy with practical coaching to help you understand underlying challenges, work through difficult experiences and make meaningful changes. It brings together emotional understanding and forward-focused personal development rather than treating them as separate processes.

How is therapeutic coaching different from traditional therapy?

Traditional therapy may focus primarily on emotional difficulties, past experiences and psychological wellbeing, although many therapies are also practical and future-focused. Therapeutic coaching explicitly combines therapeutic approaches with coaching techniques such as goal setting, reflection and behaviour change, helping you work through challenges while developing strategies for the future.

What can therapeutic coaching help with?

Therapeutic coaching can support people experiencing anxiety, stress, low confidence, trauma-related difficulties, relationship challenges, unhelpful habits, lack of motivation and difficulties navigating personal or professional change. We’ll discuss your circumstances to determine whether this approach is appropriate for you.

Do I need to have a mental health condition to benefit?

No. You don’t need a diagnosis or a specific mental health condition to explore therapeutic coaching. Some people seek support with emotional difficulties, while others want to understand themselves better, improve confidence, develop healthier habits or navigate a challenging period in their lives.

Do you use EMDR and CBT in therapeutic coaching?

Yes, where appropriate. Our therapeutic approaches can include Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy and Behavioural Activation. The techniques used will depend on your individual needs and the practitioner’s assessment.

What is the role of neurofeedback and biofeedback?

Neurofeedbackand biofeedbackare additional tools that may complement your therapy and coaching sessions. They provide feedback about brain activity or physiological responses, such as heart rate variability, which can help inform self-regulation strategies. They aren’t required for everyone, and we’ll discuss their suitability and any separate arrangements before using them.

How many sessions are included?

Our standard therapeutic coaching package includes an initial assessment followed by eight one-hour sessions. We’ll review your progress during the programme and discuss whether any additional support would be helpful. You can also choose to pay as you go.

Not sure what kind of support you need?

You don’t need to have it all figured out before you contact us. Tell us what’s happening and we’ll help you work out the most useful next step.
